Part One:
We’ll start with a deep dive into the paperwork and filing requirements that every candidate must navigate. From declarations of candidacy and filing deadlines to required disclosures and compliance forms, this session will walk you through what needs to be completed, when it’s due, and how to avoid common mistakes that can derail a campaign before it begins.
Part Two:
Next, we’ll break down campaign finances and what it really takes to fund a campaign and stay compliant. You’ll learn the basics of setting a realistic budget, tracking contributions and expenses, understanding reporting requirements, and building a fundraising plan that aligns with your goals and community. This session is designed to make campaign finance feel approachable and manageable, even if you’re new to it.
Part Three:
We’ll then shift to campaign marketing, where we’ll explore how to build your message and connect with voters. Topics will include developing a clear campaign narrative, identifying your audience, choosing the right communication channels, and creating a consistent presence—whether through digital outreach, printed materials, or in-person engagement. You’ll walk away with practical strategies to help your campaign stand out and resonate.
Part Four:
The workshop will conclude with a panel of elected officials who will share real-world insights, lessons learned, and candid advice from their own campaign experiences. Whether you're actively preparing to run or simply exploring the possibility, this session will leave you better informed and more prepared for what lies ahead.
